I think the most of us here have Rifts and the good points for Rift are a lighter headset, integrated audio, larger focus point along with a lot of free content (when buying touch as well which you're going to want especially as you will be playing bridge crew). I know you're only considering STBC at the moment but I think when you start using VR you'll want to play a lot more games as it really is a different world, literally That would be a blast.Click to expand. You know that is a really hard one to answer because both headsets have good and bad points so I guess it depends on your set-up, space available and what games you want to play. It would be cool to see a Marty and Duf VR gaming session on a live stream. Sometimes you get tired of the same old thing after a while.

There's so much more they could put into it. Holodeck minigames, quarters, engine room, transporter, shuttlecraft away missions for some first person shooting, self-destruct scenarios, eject warp coils, USS Bridge Crew Versus Klingon Bridge Crew, etc.

I wish they could have made the Bridge Crew game so the characters can get up and walk around and explore the ship a bit. Kinda like EUCs! $2200 USD for one wheel? Wha? It's not that I can't afford it, but trying to mentally justify the cost is just a struggle getting over the sticker shock. The online matches look to be a good alternative. This VR stuff looks really enticing, but to get two sets to play around with really stretches out the spending budget a bit if you want to share the experience at home with someone. I kind of fell out of the scene for quite some time. I used to be into Enemy Territory, Mechwarrior, and a little of the Half Life engine games before Counterstrike became all the rage.

I haven't played any first person shooter games for so long, it was really fun getting back into it even it was just a simple shoot em up zombie sim. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the price point of entry since it's quite an investment especially if there's a tendency to get tired of it after a while.
